The latest and largest acreage loss to fire involved land owned or leased by C. G. Shull, Ernest Means, Dr. J. D. Moore, Bob Pulliam, Frank Funk and others. According to Funk, the .fire started started about five miles east of Hugo, on either the Means or Moore land, spreading rapidly and raising Means' loss to an estimated 300 acres of grass, he having suffered loss previously this year. Brought under control late Fri day, the burned area was watched throughout the night for fear it would break out again, particular ly since some trees still were burn ing in the tops. •
