Stewart, of Eiverdale township ended his long and honorable career on July Fourth at his late residence, surrounded by his family and other sympathizing friends. Mr. Stewart had been ailing for several months is j with kidney afflictions and was con- j fined to the bed most of that time. Wednesday, of full for will j the j of convention, to the i he Mr. true aid The funeral took place and was very largely attended by his old neighbors who held him in high esteem and felt that they had lost an old and good friend. The funeral ceremony was conducted by Rev. Ollerenshaw Ollerenshaw of the Algona Presbyterian church, and the remains were interred in the Altroria cemetery. Deceased was born in Cam worth, Scotland, in .1820. About fifty years ago he immigrated from Scotland to Canada. In 1858 he moved from Canada Canada and located in Algona, and the next year he settled on his farm in Riverdale township where he lived ever since. He was twice married, first to Jane Richmond, iu Canada, with whom he had live children. She died about thirty-six years ago, and a year later he was married to Mary Clark who survives him. Ten children were the issue of the second marriage. Those of the children living living are George of Armstrong, Mrs. Alex. McDonald of Union township, James, Robert. William, Grover C., Miranda, Mrs. Bud O'Rourke and Mrs. Mike Loss of Riverdale. Mr. Stewart was a man of rigid honesty and uprightness of character and was held in high respect by all his neighbors. A few years ago he was the moninee of the democratic party of this county for the otlice of supervisor. He svas well to do in this world's goods, and died surrounded by all necessary comforts. iu
