8 City Takes Over Part Army Airfield -At the meeting of the city council Monday night a resolution wag passed to accept the release granted by the -U. S. Army of a portion of the Aiken Airfield. This -portion includes that part of 'the airfield around tehe tower* which- comprises the runways and a considerable amount. of equipment. equipment. This arrangement will be continued" until the airfield is of-. ficially turned over to the City 'of Aiken by the government, which is'expected in the_near future. • •.-It is expected'that the city will appoint a custodian who .will have charge of operations on -the field.
