^ DEATH JACKSON Thelma L.Jackson, 81, of Spartansburg, Spartansburg, RD 2, died at her residence Thursday, Sept. 9, 1993. She was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Sparta Township, Crawford County, the daughter of the late Dawlton and Ethel Toohey Alsdorf. Mrs. Jackson was raised and educated in the Spartansburg area where she attended the Spartansburg Spartansburg Consolidated Schools. She graduated in 1927. Following high school graduation, she attended and also-graduated from EAmborb State ^Tea-ewers Cbllegeln 1931.SKd immediately immediately began teach'lhg.m the Spaf- tansburg School system, educating students in English and math. Her teaching career lasted 31 years. She retired in 1974. She was a charter member of Mount Pleasant Chapel in Spartansburg Spartansburg and one of the founding members of the MaybetK Missionary Society with the Mount Pleasant Church where she also served as president and treasurer. She enjoyed embroidery. Her parents died previously and her husband, Lynford E. Jackson died June 22, 1980. They were mamed Aug. 1, 1936, in RiceviUe. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. David (Ramona) Logsdon of Spartansburg; a brother, Marion Alsdorf of Spartansburg; two grandchildren, grandchildren, Travis and Heather L. Logsdon; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home in Sparlansburs Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service at Mount Pleasant Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday. Joel and Jerry Alsdorf, nephews of Mrs. Jackson, will officiate officiate at the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Union City.
