First time girls team plays in public.
179 ' Basket Ball. On February 8th the Coe basket-ball teams won a double victory over the girls' and boys' team from Western College. The games were played in the Y. M. C. A. gymnasium before a large of interested spectators, many of whom were brought out curiosity as the game between the Coe girls and the Western girls was the first one in which the girls' team had appeared in public. It marked the beginning of an important era athletics for girls at Coe, as it was the first intercollegiate atheletic event of any kind in which they have participated. The girls played a fast game. The boys in one of the hottest games of the season got revenge their defeat at Western and proved that there was some truth the statement that they were handicapped by playing on a floor at that place.
