Sister Mary Louise Dahm Dies At 48 Sister Mary Louise Dahm, 48, principal of the Atchison Catholic Elementary School System for the 1970-71 term, died early yesterday morning at Mount St. Scholastica Convent. Sister Mary Louise had been ill and confined to the convent infirmary for six months. Born June 14, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Louise and Lillian Christopher Dahm, Mary Louise Dahm entered the Benedictine Sisters of Atchison on June 12,1942. She SISTER MARY LOUISE was professed Jan. 1, 1944. In a teaching career of 28 years, Sister Mary Louise taught in the elementary schools of Portsmouth and Defiance, Defiance, la.; Wamego, Flush, Marysville, Shawnee and Atchison; Atchison; and in the Cathedral School, St. Joe. She earned a bachelor's degree from Mount St. Scholastica college, and a master's degree in education from St. Louis university. For the community of Benedictine Sisters in Atchison, Sister Mary Louise was a leader in the consolidating of the Catholic elementary school -system. She directed the efforts of merging in the Portsmouth, Panama, and Defiance elementary schools in Iowa, during the years 1964-1968. In 1969 she devoted a year towards consolidation in the Atchison Catholic elementary schools and was one of the chief architects architects in the plan which emerged. She was the first principal of the system here. During the 1971-1972 term, Sister-Mar-y^Louise ^o ^Snger served as principal, but she advised and listened with interest interest to the progress of the Atchison schools. Sister Mary Louise is survived survived by one sister, Mrs. Margaret Ann Fox, Kansas City, Mo. Geraldine and Marceline Weishaar, 1715 Country Lane, are cousins. Vigil services will be held at the Mount St. Scholastica chapel Sunday at 6:15 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. Friends may call at the convent Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday. Interment will be in the convent cemetery. Harouff- Arensberg Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Atchison Catholic Elementary Elementary schools will dismiss early Monday afternoon so that students students and faculty may attend funeral services for Sister Mary Louise. School dismissal is on the following schedule: Primary school 2 p.m.; Intermediate and Upper school, 2:15 p.m. Sister Mary Hope, principal, made the announcement.
