WILLIAM D. FERRE President Provo Lions "Liberty-Intelligence-Our Nation's Nation's Safety" is the theme of Lionism, according to Provo Lions Club President William D. Ferre. Officers serving with Mr. Ferre for 1964-65 are R. Wendell Wendell Vance, first vice president; president; Bert L. Kirkwood, second second vice president; B. Vern Bullock, third vice president; Bert Anderson, past president; Clarence Ellertson, secretary; Owen W. Johnson, treasurer; Kay Jensen, tailtwister; John W. Taylor, Lion tamer. Directors are Ralph Kuhni, Max E. Thurman, W. A. Giles and Earl H. Greer. As of Oct. 31, 1964, Lions International had 712,206 members in its 18,668 clubs in 126 countries and geographical geographical areas. It was organized in 1917. The Provo Lions Park located located in northwest Provo is a recreational area. Now part of the Provo City Park system, system, it is the direct result of thousands of dollars and man hours contributed by the club in the past few years. Last summer fill was hauled in to level the ground and a water line completed to the shelter. Part of the concrete floor has been poured and the pedestals, conduit and steel ties installed. Accomplishments of the group during the past year include sponsoring blind persons from Provo on a week's vacation to Soapstone Soapstone and a Christmas party for 91 blind at a local cafe. The club also sponsors a baseball team in the Junior Little League.
