Obituary of Claude L. Overstreet
CLAUDE L. OVERSTREET Mr. Claude L. Overstreet, age 82, of New Braunfels died Saturday, April 25,1998, in San Antonio. He was born Dec. 14, 1915, in Newark, Mo., to Claude L. Overstreet and Frances Hollyman Overstreet. He married Frances Connaway on May 24, 1942, in Dix, 111. Mr. Overstreet served in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Major before retiring from military services. He later entered the teaching profession. He was a member of the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, Alzafar Temple, New Braunfels Art League and the San Antonio Knife and Fork Club. Survivors include wife, Frances Overstreet; daughters and sons-in- law, Claudene and George Lopez of Texico, 111., Twila and Barry Bowden of Austin; son and daughter-in,-law, Dr. Claude Lee and Cheryl Overstreet, Jr. of Piano, Texas; brother, Joseph Douglas of Corona, Calif.; aunt, Virginia Hollyman of Quincy, III.; eight grandchildren, Dagny, Samantha, Georgette and Tony Lopez, Susan and Brian Overstreet, John and Lynn Bowden. The family received friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Zoeller Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Alzafar Shrine Crippled Children's Fund or the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
