Motors claims. Between S.L., Denver Airline Launches 'Peanut' Flights A new "peanut fare" flight from Salt Lake City to Denver and return was initiated Tuesday by Texas International Airlines. According to Kaye Burgon. district sales manager for the airline, the "peanut fare" each way will be $26. compared to the one-way fare of -853 on regular flights. Only two flights will be affected. Flight S39 departing Salt Lake City at 7:25 a.m. daily and arriving in Denver at- 8:30 a.m.. and Flight 938 departing Denver at 10:30 a.m. and arriving in Salt Lake City at 11:40 a.m. The experimental fare is a first of its kind and is designed to test if greatly reduced ticket costs will stimulate large amounts of new travel. Mr. Burgon said. The new fore was approved Monday by the Civil Aeronautics Board for a one-year trial. ' There are no restrictions on the flights, but passengers will not receive the usual hot meal. Instead they will get a soft drink and a package of peanuts, thus the title for the flight cost: "Peanut fare." The intent, said Mr. Burgon. is to make air travel available to those who normally cannot afford air travel, Mr. Burgon said.
