TRIED TO END HIS LIFE BY THE MORPHINE ROUTE After 'having disappeared from the store of C. R. ft U M. Morris at 131 Decatur street. T. I. Mewborn. 3 years of age. a salesman at the above place and a resident of 255 Clark street went to Grant park late yesterday afternoon and made .an unsuccessful attempt at suicide by' drinking an overdose of morphine. A Grady hospital ambulance was summoned and the man taken to the Institution In an effort to save his life/ He was only slightly affected and was discharged last night. The affair happened about 4 o Clock and wan evidently deliberately planned. For several hours previous to the event a description had been In the possession of the police stating the circumstances of "Mewborn's strange disappearance from his place of busi ness at 7 o'clock In the. morning and advancing the belief that self-destruction was intended. Business troubles are thought by relatives to have prompted the deed. Mewborn's employers are said to have stated that he came Into the store In the morning waited on a lone customer donned his hat and walked out of the store.
