She has a large collection [of antique, furniture' 'and ineedlewbrk and,has lectured ex- itensively on needlework. The lecture ivill be in the Great House, the home · of [George Rapp (1757-1B47). It is [named for Frederick Rapp j(1775-1834), who was the business head of the Harmony Society and the architect' of ·Economy. This portion of the ;house is being restored 'in cooperation with the Harmony Associates, Inc., and the Com- ;monwcaith 'of Pennsylvania. ·Two of the rooms are already open in this house which is a iwing of the Great House! A third is scheduled to be opened in the fall. The Harmonie ^Associates is a group formed' to aid Old Economy. In addition to decorating the Frederick Rapp House they operate the gift shop, sponsor Ihe Christmas parlies for children, the docent The Associates will have kunstfest (craft festival) at Old Economy on June 7 and 8, of which will be a performance of a symphony on the Society believed to be the first symphony written west of the Alleghenies. Mrs. David L. Center. Sewickley, is president. Old Economy is a restored 1820's village which was the home of the Harmony Society. This communitarian a n d celibate society believed that second coming was near and that they had to prepare for it by living in harmony with their fellow man. The Society was dissolved in 1905.
