ABOUT CLARE PATTERSON. The St. Louis Republic of Sunday has quite a good deal to say of Clare Patterson's record with the Guthrie team in the Western Association, on the eve of his transfer to the Cincinnati Cincinnati National League team. It says "Patterson is a farm neighbor of Fred Clarke, the Pittsburg mana ger, in the vicinity of Winfield, and this was his first season in organized organized base ball. He easily developed as a sensational hitter. Hj is an unusually fast man in the outleld and in batting, aud his record of stolen bases outranks any other player in the league up to the present present time.
