John T. Lambert Portsmouth for a long time paid tribute to one of its best known John T. Lambert. Today she honors memory. The greatest feature of his rise the newspaper profession from reporter reporter to publisher of one of the newspapers in the country is the that his remarkable success was his own efforts. John Lambert had no one to in his boyhood. Born of fine parents in humble circumstances, he had to work his way even as a youngster. He worked in order that he graduate from high school and to his widowed mother. President of his class at Portsmouth High School and standing high in scholastic and athletic ranks, he not too proud to undertake any through which he might earn an dollar. From a small beginning through determination, remarkable ability, fine character, John Lambert rose the top of his chosen profession. He first won recognition as a cal writer and probably there was none other in the country that was his in presenting political matters to paper readers. His keen insight into matters pertaining to the government of this country, his thorough understanding understanding of all the issues involved, the clear and concise way in which wove this knowledge into his articles, made his writings probably the widely read of any of a similar ever published. Mr. Lambert held the friendship respect of leading government officials and of men high in both the major political parties. They knew that whatever they told him he never confidence. They knew that he was absolutely fair in every way. They him and they never had reason to regret that trust. Portsmouth is proud of the record John Lambert.
