ATTACKED IN A SALOON A Murderous Assault Last Night on North Main Street. FITTSTON, March 18 To::ight about 8 o'clock a murderous affray took place in a vile one - story saloon that is run by a Pole named Walukas on North 'Main strpet. and for a time the whole, neighborhood' was .brought out by cries of "murder." Yesterday was pay day at the Newton colliery, and inconsequence inconsequence these foreigners filled the saloons in the locality. One of these was in Walukas' placfe, and in a jiffy he was pounced upon, and; with ten against one the stranger was murderously at tacked. One of the offenders was a woman, who, with a knife a foot long, slashed the victim across the head ands face, while the others belabored himr with chairs until he was insensible, ani just as they were about to finish thefr murderous worn Louis Hindman, a butcher, broke in the door, which whs locked, and knocked the crowd to Mi fnpr corners of the diive. The victim waa brought down to the station, Ahe city ambulance summoned and he Mas later taken to the hospital. At this writing he is in a precarious condition. Constable Bennett and Chief Loftu's arrested arrested the gang and they were locked up.! -
