School Site Option Is Finalized Unified School District 457's Board of Education has finalized finalized an option agreement to acquire a site for possible location location of a second junior high school. Location is a 13- to 15-acie tract at the southeast corner of what will become the Fleming Fleming and Mairy intersection. The six-month option is with Mr. 'and MIPS. Carl Cook. He now farms the site and will continue to do so until such time as it would be utilized Cor school facilitiies. Purchase price is $2,000 per acre. Plans for such a school remain remain in the formative stage. Should the district proceed with plans for a second junior high school, it would be submitted submitted to voters of the district for approval. School officials aire now in the midst of preparing design for a new elementary school to be boated in northwest Garden City. The district is in the unutue position of paying cash fat that facility — in the $800,000 range — through use of fundis accumulated under the capital outlay levy. There was some discussion tibds week that a portion of the new site might be utilized for new school bus garage and storage facilities. In other business, the board: — Reviewed new guidebooks prepared by librarians for use in the district's library system and a .proposed revised constatu- tion and bylaws for the Future Homemia'kers of America chapter. '' — Obayed a change in existing policy to allow pregnancy pregnancy of employes as a qualification qualification for sick leave as required required by a recent court decision decision in another locale. Also approved a policy detailing termination of medical insurance insurance and hospitalization insurance insurance .for employes leaving the district. — Tabled for further study rental of district buses to outside outside groups and organizations of tihe community. The study centers (around insurance problems and stems from a request for use of buses by Jaycees. — Okayed Dr. Jerry Schreiner, Schreiner, director of instruction, to attend two upcoming conferences. conferences. — Signed a contract with Cities Service for gas service to three rmrals schools. The firm canceled the previous contract and draw up a new one containing a hike in price for 51 cents per thousand cubic feet to 54.4 cents par thousand feet.
