PRESBYTERY MEETING. THE LOS ANGELES PRESBYTERY BEGINS ITS SESSION. Eloquent Sermon by Rev. Dr. Ormiston. Rev. A. A. Dinsmore Chosen Moderator—A Moderator—A Lively Session Expected. The Presbytery of Los Angeles met last night at Immanuel Presbyterian church, on Pearl Btreet. The church was very prettily decorated with ferns in honor of the occasion. Although a number of the members of the presbytery presbytery had not yet arrived, Btill the attendance attendance was large, and the initial meeting an interesting one. This session of tbe presbytery will be more important than usual, owing to the questions which will be up for discussion. Last night the opening sermon was preached by Rev. Dr. Ormiston, and was greatly enjoyed by all who listened to the talented minister. His text was The Dignity and Dominion of Immanuel, Immanuel, and was based upon the first three verses of the 110 th Psalm. After the sermon the business of the evening was begun by the calling of the roll of ministers and elders, delegates to the presbytery, and the following answered answered to their names: Revs. J.J. Mitchell; Westminster, J. McCoy. The next business was the election of a moderator. Rev. Dr. Chichester, of Immanuel church, proposed the name of A. A. Dinsmore, of Alhambra, calling calling attention to tbe fact of the coming to California of Mr. Dinsmore, and that it would be a great personal satisfaction satisfaction to himself, and he believed would be to the presbytery to have Mr. Dinsmore as the presiding officer. There were no other nominations and Mr. Dinsmore was elected by acclamation.. acclamation.. Charles M. Fisher was proposed as secretary, but declined owing to the physical disability of his hand, and John T. Hopkins was chosen. The repott of the committee on arrangements was read by Dr. Chichester Chichester and adopted. It was to the effect that the hours for the meeting of the presbytery will be from 9to 11:30 a.m.; 2 to 6 p .m., and 7:30 to 9 p. m. It also announced that there will be a popular missionary meeting tonight, which will be addressed by Rev. Dr. Fife, of Pasadena, and Rev. Dr. Herron, of San Bernardino. The committee also asked the appointment appointment of a committee of three ministers and two elders on revision. The moderator moderator announced as the committee, Rev. Dr. Noble, Rev. Dr. Parker and Rev. Dr. Gage, Samuel Minor and E. B. Hall. A recess was then taken until this morning at 9 o'clock.
