CONNEAUT LAKE BLAZE. Flames Destroy Much Property at Conneaut Lake—Damage Estimated Estimated at $10,000—Bucket Brigade Does Good Work. The fire which broke out, Friday afternoon, at Conneaut Lake (Evms- burg), entailed a loss of $10,000, with comparatively small insurance. Three men, Arch Shartcl, Charles Darrow and' Edward Hcckej., \vcr« overcome with the heat but recovered that evening. evening. The fire was practically under control before the fireman arrived. The barns of Thomas Gehr, Clias. Tiffany and Harvey Thomas and llic dwelling house of Harvey Thomas together together with a quantity of the Thomas Thomas family's furniture, were destroyed, and the general stores of Harvey Thomas and Charles Tiffany were damaged to the amount of $1,000 each, An insurance of'$i,0oo on the Thomas residence was all the loss incurred by the insurance companies, all of the ol.her buildings bciug unprotected. The fire Started in a barn owned by Thomas Gehr. As a number of youngsters were observed in the barn earlier in the day smoking cigarettes, this is supposed to be the origin of the -blaze. The borough is art eighth of a mile from the waters of the lake, In a short <ime that entire distance had been practically covered by wo- men'and children, many of them visitors visitors to the lake, who passed 1 the empty buckets down the line .to' the shores of the lake and back up to the burning building.
