Lehi Mayor Gives City Councilmen Assignments LEHI—Mayor Harold D. Westring Westring this week gave assignments to the members of the Lehi City Council. These assignments were approved approved by the council as follows: Public Safety and Fire Department—Grant Department—Grant B. Smith, chairman, chairman, - with Mayor Westring. Grounds, City Property and Cemetery—J. B. Cooper, chairman, chairman, with Ralph Hoover. Finance Finance and Printing — Howard Robinson,. chairman with Grant B , Smith. Water Water and Sewer—(Mayor Westring, chairman," with Morris Clark. Recreation and Civil Defense — J. B. Cooper, chairman, with Grant B. Smith and Morris Clark. Jack Sly, president of the Lehi Wildlife Association,- met with the council to seek permission for his group to hold a weekly meeting in the Memorial Building Building until the first of May. A course on hunter safety will be given at these mteetings. This request was grnated. The council made a ruling regarding regarding city-owned equipment in that it is not to be used by individuals. individuals. If city equipment were allowed to be used to dig trenches, trenches, haul dirt, etc., it would be iij conflict with those who are licensed to this work. Councilman Ralph Hoover reported reported on the licensing of business business within homes in neighboring neighboring communities. His report showed that some communities allowed work to be done in in- j dividuals' homes and others did I not. After some discussion, the 1 council decided that they could j r.ot license home businesses in ( Lehi. However, if an individual 1 cioes the work himsell on a part- time-hobby basis, hires no em- ployees. does no advertising and : does not maintain a workshop, but that the work is done within the home itself, they felt they had no control. The council approved the appointment appointment of Calvin Swensen to a two-year term and Harold Ellison Ellison to a three-year term to the Lehi Hospital Board.
