Welch boy hurt in July 4 accident
Fourth of July Accident A small boy in Olmstead addition, a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Welch, was one of the few in this section of the city to suffer trom burns on the Fourth of July. In the olden days whea fireworks fireworks were in their prime on the 4th of July, the columns of the newspapers newspapers were filled with accounts ot 4th of July accidents but now they are few and far between. The Welch boy was shooting firecrackers and one went off right under his nose. The result was his face was pretty badly burned, the under part of hi snose being the worst hurt. His lips were badly burned also and his eyes escaped escaped with slight burns which blinded him,for the remainder ot the day. The boy was planning to go to the picnic at tho park but the accident that happened happened to him in the morning kept him home instead of going to the park, Mr. Welch, the father of the boy, said he was very thankful that the accident was not more serious.
