Summerlot desth in IN
Emanuel Summerlot met a tragic death last Monday evening at about 5 o'clock. He was in the employe of Mr. George McEntarfer as a helper with a steam threshing outfit, and the force was at work on the farm of Martin Casselman. north of Sedan. Summerlot was in the act of walking across the top of the separator to ad just a belt and losing his footing fell' into the cylinder and tbe right arm was wrenched from tbe socket and his body stopped tbe machine. Life was not extinct wben he was taken out although his leg was broken in several places, bis collar bone crushed in and the back part of his skull crushed be sides being very badly bruised. He lived ouly half an hour after he was removed from the machinery. Drs. , Broughton and Showalter, of this place, were called but he was dead before before they arrived. Dr. Baxter, county county coroner, was called from Auburn to hold an inquest which was done Mon. day evening. The body was removed to the home of H. C. Delong, two miles north of Waterloo, where the deceased of late years had made his home. Mr. Summerlot was an ex-soldier ex-soldier ex-soldier having served in Co. C. 14th Regt. Ohio Inf. Vols, and was a pensioner. He was 71 years of age and evidently unsteady in his footing which resulted in his death. The accident was a great shock upon all the hands engaged engaged in the work and also to his family who survive him.
