John B. Shorter Dies At Age 73 John Britton Shorter, 73, o Chatham Rt. 3, died yesterday n the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Durham, N. C. A son of the late WHliair Benjamin Shorter and Nancj Fuller Shorter, he was born in Franklin County Oct. 1, 1897. Mr. Shorter was a retired automobile mechanic, a veteran of World War I and a member and past master of Snow Creek Lodge No. 90, A. F. & A.M. He vyas of the Primitive Bap list faith. In addition to his wife, Elsi Adkins Shorter, he is survived by six sons, S. A. Shorter o Springfield, J. B. Shorter Jr. D. C. Shorter, Thomas D horter and Vincent R Shorter.ail of Chatham and J N. Shorter of San Diego, Calif, two daughters, Mrs. R. E Saunders of Chatham and Mrs Kenneth West of Cascade; thre brothers, W. S. Shorter and S W. Shorter, both of Chatham and R. P. Shorter of Penhook three sisters, Mrs. Annie S Clifton and Mrs. S. Thoma Wells, both of Danville, and Mrs. Allie S. Rogers o Chatham; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body is resting at Scot Funeral Home pending completion completion of funeral arrangements. The family will be at the residence on Chatham Rt. 3.
