by in ' Charles B. Fields.' Charles B. Fields, a well known cit izen of Altoona, and civil war veteran, died at his home, 408 Cherry avenue, yesterday morning at' 6.25 o'clock, of tuberctilar pneumonia."'. He was born, on January 10, 1849, near Mt. Union, and was married on March 10, 1870, to Miss Mary J. Kauffman, by whom he is survived, with the following children:. Harry E., C. Bertram, Ira E., all at home;. Mrs. J. R. McKee. Edward B. Fields, of Altoona, and Mrs: H. P. Burley, of Pittsburg. Mr. Fields was in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad company in the car shops arid was a public spirited citizen, who took a great inter est in the affairs of the city. He served his country as a soldier dur ing the civil war and was a member of post 62, Grand Army of the Repub lic, and of the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief, Altoona lodge No. 473, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Encampment 129, I. O. of O. F., Blair lodge 281, Knight of Pvthias. and also was a member of common council in 1883-4. The funeral will take place on Tues day afternoon at 3.30 o clock at the United Presbyterian church, and the interment wil be made in Fairview cemetery.
