Born in Vernon, Capt Melvin moved to Destin early in his life He was a fisherman and a member of the St. Andrews Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Destin Presbyterian Church with burial in the Destin Cemetery. McLaughlin Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Capt. Melvin is survived by his widow, Mary M. Melvin, son John W. Melvin, Jr., two daughters: Miss Eva P. Melvin and Mrs. Tommie Chek; three brothers: O. T. Melvin, ST., Millard Melvin and Jewel Melvin; two sisters: Mrs. Homer Jones and Mrs. Annie Vincent, Houston, Texas; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Active pall bearers are Glenn Marler, Earl Marler, Aubry Jones, Bruce Marler, Hermon Jones and Royal Melvin. Honorary pall bearers are Tony Maltezo, Jim Armstrong, Wallace Spence, Walter Hollingsworth, Herbert Woodard and Wffliam Frank Davis.
