j WOMAN TAKES LIFE WITH GUN Mrs. Earl Kivens Dies Tn- «tantly At Home—Had Been In 111 Health. Mrs. Earl Nivens, York road woman, died instantly Wednesday morning about 10:30 from a uunshor, wound in her right temple which county officers said was self-inflicted. Mrs. Nivens, who is reportrd to have been in ill health for lome time, was found covered up n her bed by her husband shortly after the fatal shot was fired from a. .32 revolver. In bed with the woman. Detective E. K. Groves and Capt. |Loge Armstrong report, were a pencil and a piece of yellow paper on which a note Is thought to have been started then erased. According to Groves, two shots were fired, the first presumably with tiie left hand. It missed its mark and went through a Venetian blind of the home. Mrs. Nivens' d.vughter-in-iaw is reported to have heard tha first shot but she said that she- thought at the time It was the crash of a falling pan or some other normal household noise. The Kivens family lives on the old Honeycutt farm off U. 8. highway 321 south. Nivens runs a sausage business a short dis- tance from the house. He w>a at work there at the time of the shooting. Mrs. Nivens' body was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital
