Mother of 9 Dies In Head-On Crash GOLD, Pa. — Mrs. Ford Bruce, 48, of Ulysses, mother of nine children, died Saturday evening when the car in which she was riding was involved in a head-on crash at an intersection here. Trooper Anthony Ruggiero of the Pennyslvania State Police station in Coudersport reported that Philip K. Empson, of Ulysses, tha driver of the car in which Mrs. Bruce was riding, was traveling east on Route 49 at 7:45 p.m. A car operated by Fred Putnam, of RD 2, Genesee, Pa., westbound on Route 49, attempted to make a left turn onto Route 449 and was struck head-on by the Empson vehicle, the report stated. Mrs. Bruce was pronounced dead on arrival at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport. State Police have not released further details of the accident pending completion of their investigation. Charges are pending, they said. Mrs. Bruce (Ruby Jane) was a native of Greensburg, Pa. In addition to her widower, she is survived by four sons, Ralph, Robert, Larry and Garry, all at home; five daughters, Mrs. Hazel Post of Ulysses, Pa., Miss Susan Bruce of Cresson, Pa., and Barbara, Pauline and Marcella, all at home; two brothers, Russell Errett of Erie, Pa., and Robert Errett, address unknown; a sister, Miss Charlotte Errett of Cleveland, Ohio; and six grandchildren. Friends may call at the Koch and Kear Funeral Home, Ulysses, this evening and Tuesday afternoon and evening. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Claybourne Phillips, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ulysess. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
