Flagstaff School Name Change OK'd PHOENIX-- UPI --The state Senate today voted unanimously to change the name of zona State College at Flagstaff to Northern Arizona University. Minority Leader David Palm er, D-Yavapai, objected during debate yesterday and said the name should be changed-to University of Northern Arizona. However, he voted for the other name today and the bill was given final, official approval 28-0. It still is subject approval by the House before taking effect. The Board of Regents recently authorized university status .for the Flagstaff school. Partisans of the University of Arizona in Tucson objected to the proposal that ASC be called University of Northern Arizona because of the similarity that would have resulted in the names. The Senate also approved, 18-10, changing the residency requirement from five years to one year for Arizona college students participating in the Western Interstate Compact Higher Education. Appropriations of $325,000 for acquisition of land in the Capitol area and $45,000 to install an elevator in the State Office Building at Tucson were both approved unanimously.
