The San Joaquin valley counted five dead yesterday as a result of weekend tramc ac cidents. Torrez, 21, of Hanford; and Pfc. James E. Wright, 18, of Memphis, Tenn. Mrs. Gladys Bidwell, 54, of Fres no died m an intersection col lision in Fresno early yesterday. The state highway patrol said Mrs. Bidwell's car collided with another vehicle driven by 23-year-old Cal vin Wilcox of Fresno. Wilcox escaped with minor injuries but a passenger in Mrs. Bid-well's car, 19-year-old Dorothy Bid-well, was hospitalized for treatment for major injuries. The fifth victim was 46-year-old Albert B. Cook of Bakersfield. Cook died in a Bakersfield hospital yesterday from injuries received when his car struck the drive wheels of a truck on U. S. Highway 99 near Wheeler Ridge.
