Bill Linkous, 51, Dies; Rites Slated : Funeral services for Bill Linkous, 51, of Tarns will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Chapel Sophria with Rev. Shirley Donnelly officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park at Prosperity. Linkous died at 2:30 p.m Saturday in a local hospital following a long illness. Born May 9, 1922 at Traliee, he was a son of the late and Clara Doyle Linkous.- Hcj was a member of the Tarns Free Will Baptist Church, Sophia Lions Club. He was .chaplain of the Sophia VFW Post and was a veteran of World War II. He was WOriU VTfaL 11. JIG wuo iiit,uiuk.L of the UMWA and president of Slab Fork District Community Action group. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lola McCoy Linkous; three sons, William Frank of Sophia, Jack Steven and Kenneth Ray, both at home; three daughters, Mrs. Jimmy (Donna) Fruia of Tarns, Brerida of Beckley, and Deborah Kay, at home; three brothers, James Matheny, David of Charden Ohio, Sam Va.; of Newport News Seven sisters, Mrs. Margare Bishop.of Washington, D. C. Mrs. Agnes Abrams, Mrs. Ruth Bryan, and Mrs. Gold Polkowsi all of Baltimore, Md.,' Mrs, Barbara Bach of West Orange. Workman of Matheney; three grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home at Sophia from i to 9 p.m. today. Members of the Sophia VFW Post wil' serve as pallbearers and conduct graveside rites.
