Charles F. Hackman Dies at His Home After Illness of Two Years. ' Staunton, Mar. 22--Charles F. Hackman, 70, president of the First National Bank here, died at 7:30 o'clock this morning at his residence He had been ill for two years from stomach ailment which an operation a year ago failed to relieve. Mr Hackman was born Oct. 13, 1864, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs Henry Hackman Fifty-five years ago he embarked In the furniture furniture business and monumental work with his father. The store is now in charge of his son-in-law, J. R Russell Russell and Is In the same location as when otganlzed In 1903 he became mayor of Staunton and seived for one term. He als.0 served at various times on the Staunton Public School Board When the First National Bank was Instituted in 1912, he was elected president and remained the head of the Institution when the First National National Bank was merged with the Staunton National Bank last year. He remained active in the affairs of the bank until last week, holding business sessions at his home Recently Recently he had been drawing plans for the interior of the bank in its new location.
