Fort Smith, Ark., June 30.—News was received here to day that the body of Deputy United States Marshal C. L. Bowden was found yes- teitlay between Tahlequtih and Hraggs, Cherokee Nation,, with several bullet holes in it. A letter written by him Thursday to Mar- siial Yoes was received this afternoon, and in it he said Nod Christie, tlie notorious Cherokee outlaw, was in the vicinity aiul he hojDcd to capture him. It is the general opinion tliat he found Christie and was killed by him or some ot his gang. United .States Marshal \'oes, with eighteen pickeil men, are now in the Christie neighborhood, and will either capttire or kill him if they get oil his trail.
