A NEW NEGRO BUSINESS ENTERPRISE FOR VICKSBURG A number of colored men met last night and formulated plans for "Cooperative Negro Association." One thousand dollars was raised by bonnflde subscriptions, and plans perfected to raise a nucleus of three thousand dollars cash before beginning business. The business is to bo capitalized with ten thousand dollars. The following names are the promoters and boosters: Rev. John J. Movant, Alex Mason, Dr. P. W. liar-rison, R. B. Rowe, W. S. Maxey, P. C. Copelane, B. G. Vernon, Rev. E. Wittenberg J. R. Burns, Dr. H. II. Proctor, Revs. B. J. Jenifer and G. W. Williams. The Association is in dead earnest and invites all worthy characters to the next meeting Wednesday night, Oct. 13th, at Harrison's Drug Stors, north Washington street.
