Plane Drops Pole, Letters to Santa On Polar Ice Cap Judge.Sentences Woman For Stealing Dresses Offer Gash Prizes In Annual Carnival ArtE More than $400 in prizes will be awarded the outstanding paintings in the third annual Sun Carnival art exhibit which opetis at 2 p. m. Sunday in the Cotton Memorial Building at Texas Western College. Screening of nearly 400 entries for the exhibit will begin Wednesday Wednesday with two noted judges in charge of selecting 100 paintings for the exhibit. The judges are Andreas Andreas S. Anderson of the University of Arizona Art Department and Thomas W. Messer of the Roswell Museum. Biggest prize will be a $200 purchase purchase price offered by the El Paso Artists' Assn. Contractor Robert E. VIcKee also has donated $100 for :he exhibit. Other firms which have donated .o the prize fund are the State National National Bank, R. M. Metcalfe Co., Field-Parker Co.. Taylor-Simpkins [nc. and the Glidden Co. A reception will open the art exhibit Sunday.
