Kersten Sr, 86, Rock county resident for the past 65 ears, died in Mercy hospital early ifonday morning. He had been a lospital patient for several days. Born in Pommern, Germany, Way 27, 1861 Mr. Kersten came to Milwaukee Oct. 27,1882. and short- y afterwards went to work on arms in Magnolia township, Rock ounty. He was married to Johana Muenchow Dec. 4, 1885, in St. •aul's Lutheran church. TVy lived n farms in Magnolia until 43 ears ago when they purchased a arm in Center township, near Leyden. Mrs. Kersten died in 1916 nd shortly afterward Mr. Kersten came to Janesville to reside with is children. At the time of his eath he was living with a daugh- Mrs. Leonard Landsvork, 409 Locust street. Mr. Kersten attend- d St. John's Lutheran church. Surviving are six sons, Frank, jtto, August, Carl, Reinhold and Herman Kersten, all living in anesville and vicinity; two daugh- _rs, Mr*! Stuart Pennycook and ATS. Landsvork, both of Janesville; 9 grandchildren, including two sets of twins; and 34 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be h«M at * m. Wednesday to St. John's hurch, the Rev. H. C. Milius to officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Center township. Friends may call at the Krueger funeral ome Tuesday afternoon and eve- ing.
