Kidnaper Just Lucky Amateur LANSING. Mich 'AP>~Lan- *»ng police. seeking new avenges of investigation in the now week-old kidnaping of 16-year- old Laurie Murninghan, are preparing to distribute copies of her photograph to some 30.000 cross-country truck drivers. "It is my responsibility to say there are no new developments.” Police Chief Derold W Husby said today. He said the photograph, part of a new brochure that includes the composite dra ing based on a description of the kidnaper, also is being sent to police agencies •cross the country. • Husby said information that police have now make? the kid naping appear the work of an amateur. “There are many facets of this ca.se that reek of that, "the chief said, adding, in reference to the kidnaper, “He’s lucky more than expert." The reward for the safe release of the kidnaped girl was raised to $16.500 Wednesday, amid dwindling hopes of finding her safe. Her father, former mayor Max E. Murninghan. announced that a special trust fund has been established to administer the expanded reward that would go either to an anonymous informer or to the abductor of the high school junior should she be returned alive and well. The young blonde was kidnaped from a gift store, where she worked, by a gunman during a •64 robbery last Thursday. Administered by the Michigan National Bank and its affiliates, the hind has as trustees a Jewish Rabbi, a Roman Catholic priest, and a Baptist minister. Murninghan said the fund was set up to handle contributions coming from all parts of the country. One came from Miami, Fla. All at* being handled anonymously.
