Stephen Wayne Burnup, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Burnup, Malady Road, was recently home on leave from the StAlbans Naval Hospital before being transferred to headquarters c o m p a n y , schools demonstration troops, Quantico, Va. A 1965 graduate of Carthage Central School, Burnup enlisted in the Marine Corps for four years on Jan. 12, 1966. He went to Vietnam in July 1966. In April 1967 he suffered several several bullet wounds in the side and was evacuated to the U.S.S. Princeton and later to St. Albans Albans Hospital. He has been awarded the Pure pie Heart, presidential unit citation, citation, the Vietnam service medal with star, the Republic of Vietnam campaign medal and the national defense service medal.
