Clipped From Fairbanks Daily Times
to Chena and Tanana Rivers Filled With Ice; Skat- ,ing Very Soon. A little earlier than last year, Chena and Tanana rivers are running full of ice and if the present cold snap continues it will be but a few days until the streams are frozen in for the winter. Above the bridge in Fairbanks yesterday, the river well covered with ice and there is little doubt but that it will be solid this morning. From Chena a report was received last evening that the Tanana is filling filling up rapidly with ice and residents there think it will be but a few until the ice is solid. Harry Karstens, Karstens, who came up from the lower river, was unable to get his boat into the Chena river and was compelled compelled to haul it out on the bank the Tanana. Within the next few days, and possibly this evening, Noyes slough will be frozen over sufficiently to permit skating, the first of the year.
