DePere Crash Fatal to 4 Couple on Easter Trip, Milwaukee Pair Victims DE PERE (AP)—Four persons were killed early today in the^ collision of two automobiles, one;™ of them laden with Easter bas-l kets and gifts. i Victims of the headon crash on Highway 57 three miles south this Brown County community were identified as Sylvester A. Jansen, 52, of DePere, and his wife, Florence, 50, and the oc-; cupants of the other Neal J. Wilinski, 24, Milwaukee. and Judith A. Gostomski, 21, also: of Milwaukee. ! Authorities said the Jansens f were enroute to East Lansing,!'°"S Mich., to visit a son, Neil, a stu- j dent at Michigan State University, I and their car contained many Easter baskets and gifts. Authorities said the Jansen vehicle was proceeding south and the other was headed north. They; said there was no indication of | how the collision occurred at I about 6:20 am. Sheriff William Swanson theo- j rized the driver of the Milwaukee car may have fallen asleep. : The victims were pinned in (he cars and two wreckers were^o,,^ needed to pull the vehicles apart. 1 Jansen was a retired division manager of the Red Owl stores and had been with the firm since it purchased a local chain with which he had been associated.
