Engagement of Norma Hegeman & Maxwell Lester
PARTICULARLY interesting this week is the announcement announcement made of the engagement of Miss L. Norma Hege-man, Hege-man, Hege-man, the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Augustus Hegeman, of 35 Monroe place, and Mr. Maxwell Lester, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Lester, of 69 First place.' This engagement will unite two of the most prominent families of the borough, and is regarded by both with much satisfaction. Miss Hegeman, who is a granddaughter granddaughter of Mrs. Laura N. Hegeman, of West Washington Square., Manhattan, and a niece of the late Dr. S. Fleet Speir, is one of the best known girls on the Heights. She graduated from the Brooklyn Heights Seminary and made her debut at a' large reception given by her mother a year ago last November. Since that time she has been a leading belle, her charm of manner and bright, attractive ways making making her an universal favorite. Although coming out a year in advance, she really belongs to this season's debutantes, and, of the entire group, enioys the distinction of being the first to become engaged. Her fiance is identified with the same set and is regarded as an uncommonly fine, young fellow. He is a special favorite of his uncle. Mr. Henry W. Maxwell, and is likewise a nephew of Mr. J. Rogers Maxwell. Mr. Lester was graduated from Columbia University in the class of '97 and is a great lover of outdoor sports, particularly golfing and yachting. Among other social organizations, he belongs to the Nassau Country, the Westbrook Golf, the Penataquit-Corinthian Penataquit-Corinthian Penataquit-Corinthian Yacht and the Seawanhaka Yacht clubs.
