My 2nd great grandfather, Patrick J. Hirl of Holmesburg is mentioned in this 1887 newspaper. He was employed for Summerdale Mills in Holmesburg. He and others petitioned to favor Charles H. Krumbaar the Democratic candidate for Sheriff who treated them proper consideration while he was an attorney for the mill operator, Dr. Bray. It could be Patrick, Sr, (1828-1896) or Patrick Jr, (1859-1919). Both were engineers for print works according to the Census and city directory.
