Lebanon Native Heads Chapter Of National ATAS Joseph H. Varholy Joseph R. Varholy, son of Mr. .and Mrs. Joseph C. Varholy, 1022 Nowlen St., has been elect"ed president of the Cleveland (Ohio) Chapter of the. National Academy of Television Arts and 'Sciences. Varholy, program manager of the NBC-owned TV station WKYC in Cleveland, was also elected as trustee and board member of the National Academy, which formulates policy for the chapters "as well as the regulations for the annual Emmy Awards procedures. The academy, best known for Its annual presentation of the Emmy awards to outstanding TV performers and programs, also functions In major cities as an organization to promote the advancement of the TV arts and sciences through workshops. Varholy, a carrier for the Lebanon Daily News from 1944 to 1950, is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. He has been program manager of WKYC-TV since Feb., 1967. He has the responsibility for the adininistration of all phases of programming, including produc tion, traffic and scheduling. Was Production Manager Prior to becoming program manager, he had been produc tion manager of the station. Be fore moving to Cleveland with NBC, he was for four years a producer-director for WRCV-TV (now KYW-TV) in Philadelphia He also worked :'our years as a director and technical director at WGAL-TV, Lancaster. He is married to the former Mary Troller and they are parents of a son. He served two years In the U.S. Army after graduation from college. He is also president of th' 600-member Pennsylvania Stat University Alumni Association of Cleveland.
