Assisting Mrs. Matlock were her two nieces, Mrs. Edward Smith and Miss Barbara Lindley. A clever love story of "Fern and Bill's Romance" was given in songs and readings with Miss Joyce Beecher, soloist, and Mrs. Kent Beecher, accompanist at the piano. The love story, read by Mrs. Matlock, included a number of songs which pleverly presented the steps in the couple's romance and ended with a poem, "Advice to the Bride." Fall colors of yellow, brown and green were the keynote used and the gifts were presented to the guest of honor as she was seated in an archway decorated with two large gold wedding rings tied with a huge brown and gold bow and leaves. The refreshment table covered with a lace cloth was centered with colorful chrysanthemums with leaves scattered on the mirror base and yellow and brown tapers on either side of the arrangement Yellow, green and brown also were B.
