m. hour H. p.m. on mortuary k e s , i c t was Mamie Darnell's Rites Scheduled Mrs. Mamie Ethel Darnell 75, of Sophia, died in a loca hospital at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday following a long illness. She was born Sept. 30, 1895 in Blowing Rock, N.C. to late John and Mary Hodge. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Sophia and had been a residen of Sophia for 17 years. She jmerly lived at Farley Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, B. M. Darnell. Survivors include five sons John Darnell of Sophia, Bob 1 Darnell of Midway, Eugene j Darnell of Highstown, N.J. 1 James Darnell of Falls IVa., and B, M. Darnell Jr. j Farley Hill; seven daughters !Mrs. Leighton (Ethel) Farley Mrs. Robert (Loraine) Porter JMrs. James (Marie) Deweese jail of Sophia, Mrs. Ora (Ruth) j Worrells of Farley Hill, Mrs Joe Stella Mullins of Garden City, Mich., Mrs. Roy (Irene' Lambert of Taylor, Mich, anc Mrs. Paul (Mary) Kelly of Pauldon, Ariz.; two brothers Rev. George Hodge of Sugar Land, Texas, and Adam Hodge of Blowing Rock, N.C.; one sister Mrs. Annie Abernathy o Glover, S.C; 47 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Free Baptist Church of Sophia with the Rev. Ronald Adkins anc Rev. Ernest Barley officiating Burial will follow at Hot Coa Cemetery. Friends may call at the Williams Funeral Home in Sophia from 6 to 10 p.m Thursday. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
