Ellen Irwin Speer, 82, widow of Charles Speer, who died at her home in this city Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock following an illness of two months. The Rev. W. H. Ake, pastor of the Methodist Elixabeth. Interment Episcopal conducted church of the services was made in the Log Church cemetery near this city. Pallbearers were: Robert J. Speer, .f. Wallace Moore, J. Arthur Speer, ,T. Leslie Speer, Irwin Edgerton and Donald Irwin, all of this vicinity. Ellen Irwin, n daughter of Robert Helen fWilliamson) Irwin, was I born November 15. 1854 in Hanover township and she always made her homo In this vicinity. She was united In marriage to Charles Speer on January 25, 1881 and the young couple mode their home on a farm north of this city until 1016 when they moved to Hanover to retire from active farm life. Her husband died August, 29, 191G only a short time after moving to this city. To this union four children were born, Amos and Augustus, who died j in childhood; Nancy Anna Moffett, of Hanover, and Thomas Roscoe Hpeer, of Monmouth. She also leaves nineteen grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren besides two sisters, sisters, Mrs. Matilda Edgerton and Mrs. Rebecca Barnes, both of Hanover, Hanover, The following step-children are also left to mourn her departure: William J. Speer. Mary Ellen Virtue Virtue and Bessie Eastman, of Hanover. Isaac, of Milford la., J. Walter, of Great. Falls. Mont., and Rev. Joseph A. Speer, of Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Speer was a life-long member of the United Presbyterian church of Hanover and although she was unable to take nil active part in the work in later years because of her health, her interest in the church never waned.
