WHO HE is P RIVATE Walter P. Steele, Company G, Sixteenth Infantry, Infantry, has been in the army 26 years and looks like the typical American soldier. Sculptor Walter Russell has chosen him as model for the figure of a soldier in a memorial memorial to John Philip Sousa. Steele is 42, strong, weather beaten, vigorous. He served through the last war. wa? in action five times, got the Distinguished Distinguished Service Cross. Unmarried, Unmarried, he says he couldn't support a wife on his pay of $42 a month.
