The adjourned term of the superior court is being - held, here this week fo: the pur pose .of trying; the case of the state against Sylvester Sasser. charged with the murder of M. L. Parker. - Parker WSS assassinated in April. 1905. The assassin snot him through the win dow of his bedroom as he was prepar ing to retire. Sasser wa* arrested and tried at the spring term of the court that year. He was found guilty, and sentenced to the penitentiary for life. A new trial was obtained and the case is now up for second trial. The state has put up several witnesses ve that there was bad feeling be tween Sasser and Parker o Parker's wife, and that the ordered Sasser from his borne. The state's counsel has attempted ■e conspiracy between Mrs. Parker When interrogated as to intimacy be tween herself and Sasser, Mrs. Parker broke down and burst into tears on the ltness stand and could not proceed for some minutes. The stu.te rested its case this afternoon, he defense will attempt' to impeach the evidence of Marcella Moore and have put up several witnesses to show friendly re lations between the deceased .and Sasser.
