Driver of the pickup was Mrs. Leatrice Cullison of Baytown. The truck struck Miss Whitmire as she lay on the road. Miss Whitmirc's common-law husband, Everett B. Franklin, 31, of 309 Elsbeth in Channclview, said that Miss Whitniire took sleeping tablets after a quarrel Wednesday morning. He went to see Miss Whitmire at her parents' home in Coariy Wednesday night and when, he loft, she attempted to follow his truck. She broke Ipose from her father who attempted to. hold her. Minutes later, she was hit by the truck driven by Mrs. Cul'ison.
