Gorkowski Eggert Accident
The Five persons required hospital treatment in three accidents investigated investigated Saturday by the Cerro Cerro Gordo County sheriff's offi- :ers. The most serious accident oc- :urred at about 4 p.m. one-half mile north of 12th NE on the old Plymouth road. A car driven by Clifford Eggert, Route 2, and a truck driven by Roland F. Gorkowski, also Route 2, collided collided on an icy road. Another car driven by Richard D. Erickson, 610 Vermont SE, also was involved but received only minor damage. Gorkowski was treated for minor injuries and released. Sheriff's deputies said Eggert apparently had passed a truck driven by Thomas DuBois, Mason Mason City and the Erickson car did not get back in the right lane in time to avoid the Gor- Kowski truck coming from the south. A one-car accident at 11:50 a.m. sent three persons to the Belmond hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises. The mishap occurred one-half mile west Mason City on Highway 106. The injured persons were ena Gandee, 50, Belmond, her two teen-age daughters, lores and Beverly. A deputy sheriff said Mrs. Gandee apparently lost control of the car was driving and hit a bridge post. The car was demolished. Donald J. Foxen, 27, Osage, escaped injury in another Saturday Saturday morning accident when car slid through an intersection and hit a stop sign at the junction of Highways 288 and 65, north of Mason City.
