Honor Rev. Bach At Farewell Event St. Mary's Parishioners Present Purse , Parishioners of St. Mary's Assumption Assumption church honored the Rev. John V. Bach last night at a reception held REV. JOHN J. BACH v in the high school auditorium, when they presented to him a purse of $800, Father Bach served the parish for almost eleven years. He devoted much of his time administering to the poor of the parish. That they, too, appreciated appreciated his efforts was shown by the number attending last night's function. function. The pastor, the Rev. George T. Schmidt, who was the principal speaker of the evening, paid a wonderful wonderful tribute to Father Bach, as did the Rev, George Goeckel, also of St. Mary's. John B. Rader served as chairman of the evening as the president of the Holy Name society, which sponsored the movement of a reception and pur fsr Father Bach. The council - mair made tiie presentation. Father Bach has been assigned to St. Ann's atademy in Wilkes - Barre where he wiil serve as chaplain and also wlli teach students at that institution. Father Bach in responding told of the pleasure it' was for him during the many years he was stationed at St. Mary's in this city and thanked the donors heartily for the purse. The church choir under the direction of Prof. F. J. Van Maanen rendered a program of musical selections appropriate appropriate to the occasion, and Miss Mildred Mildred Reif, well known soloist, pleased with the rendition of "The West of the Great Divide" and "My Dear Mother of Mine."
