The Gazette and Daily, York, Pa., Tuesday Morning, September 8, 1959 ISlS&iiiiWII ' - siS T; ' ' - " ' : i $ ill 'Stay-At-Homers' Mark Labor Day The Bonnie Scots, drum and Bugle corps from Millersburg (photo at left) marches down Market street in the Moose lodge parade that opened York's Labor Day observance yesterday morning. Diane Peeling, of 29 West Jackson street, was chosen winner of a beauty contest which the Boys Club of York sponsored at York County Labor council's "Stay-At-Home-And-Live" program at Ki-wanis lake. In photo at right,, she is being crowned by 1958 winner, Brenda Gosnell. Many youngsters and oldsters joined in the fishing contest. Winners, shown at right, were Robert W. Raffensberger, Jr., 2121 Leonard street and Diana K. Blauser, York RD 7. Runners-up in the beauty contest in the order in which they were chosen, were: Cheryl Ann Smith, 14, of 227 Pattison street; Shelby Shue, 17, of 1125 Gunnison street; Joyce Ruppert, 15, of 627 CourtLand street; and Betty Conway, 15, of 320 North Newberry street. Judges were Mrs. Frank E. Young Jr.. Mrs. William Plate, Albert Hydeman Jr., Harry Mc Laughlin, and Dr. George Brett. Two contestants became faint during the contest and were helped from the stage. Neither became seriously ill. They, were Sandra Carpenter, 14, of 804 Loucks road, and Joyce Shutter, 14, of 851 Fahs street. Contest officials said the heat and the excitement of the contest made the girls become" ill. Robert W.
