MELVIN G. 'STIFFY' MERVINE, 92, Indiana RD 4, died Friday, Nov. 12,1993, at Indiana Hospital. The son of Frank A. and Catherine Boring Mervine, he was born Dec. 8,1900, in Strongstown. Mr. Mervine was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Indiana, where he was a church usher. He was a member of the Brush Valley Senior Citizens; United Mine Workers of America and had lived in the Indiana County area for the past 28 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed employed as a coal miner and a truck driver for Keith's Trucking Company of Connecticut. Connecticut. Surviving are his wife, Louise Marian Miller Mervine; one son, Clair M., Strongstown; two daughters, Mrs. John (Velma) Findley, Brush Valley, and Marian Marian E. White, Clymer; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Lillian Edwards, Strongstown RD 1. He was preceded in death by one son, Francis; his parents; and five brothers: William, Calvin, Leo, Wilmer and Arthur. Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Robinson-Lytle's in Indiana, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. William G. Murphy will officiate and interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana. Indiana.
